"I think I want to give CBT a try”: What dreams tell us about an adolescent’s ambivalent engagement with psychoanalysis

    Thursday, October 13, 2016
    8:00 PM

    Presenter: Sydney F. Anderson, Ph.D.

This presentation will focus on the analytic work with George, a bright and talented adolescent who approaches analysis—like the rest of his life—without passion, effort, or full engagement. The clinical material will highlight the technical challenges that emerge in analytic work with adolescents in general, and with George in particular. George’s dreams will be highlighted as a window into his narcissistic vulnerabilities as well as his fears of becoming a competent adult man.

    2 CME/CE credits offered

No charge. Open to members and candidates of NYPSI, Columbia and IPE only. Child and Adolescent candidates are expected to attend.
