"The Efficacy of Short-Term Psychodynamic Psychotherapy for Depression" with Ellen Driessen, Ph.D.
This presentation will focus on recent research findings with regard to the efficacy of short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy for depression. Findings of a large randomized clinical trial comparing the efficacy of short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy with cognitive behavioral therapy in the outpatient treatment of depression will be discussed, focusing on general efficacy as well as on prescriptive factors that are related to differential efficacy of these two psychotherapy methods. Furthermore, the findings of a recent meta-analysis concerning the efficacy of short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy for depression are presented. The session will be concluded with a discussion of important future research topics in this field of efficacy research.
